Pianist, arranger, hammond b-3 man and band leader Bill Doggett, was born this week in 1916. Doggett inherited Jimmy Gormons 15 piece band in his native Philadelphia, sold the band to Lucky Millinder and then joined it himself. He was later pianist and arranger for the Ink Spots and in the 40s, worked with Ella Fitzgerald and a number of other artists including… Louis Jordan. Doggett was born on February 16 and probably best remembered by this 1956 smash called Honky Tonk
