Benny Carter/ Ella Fitzgerald

How can I find this recording?

Would love to find the recording that includes Benny Carter & Ella Fitzgerald doing "THINKING OF YOU." I don't know the label or name of album.

Mary B Jones

The song is actually part of a six song medley recorded with an all-star septet backing Ella including Sweets Edison, Georgie Auld, Louis Bellson....Benny Carter and others. It was recorded in the summer of 1968 in L.A. It was a Capitol recording subsequently released on CD# CDP7 48333-2.

This seems odd to me given the line-up has many musicians one would associate with a Norman Granz Verve or Pablo session. However this may have been during the period when Granz took some time off between his Verve (and/or Norgran) and Pablo labels. My suggestion is wade through the 300 or so Ella CD's at The discographies show it as being available at one time. Hope this helps

Thanks, Jeff Parker. Brillant! I'm a computer novice & am just bowled over by this.
